This morning Amanda, Mark and I attended
ClimateWorks Australia’s launch of its Low Carbon Growth Plan in Federation Square, Melbourne. The organisation, which is a collaboration between
The Myer Foundation and
Monash University, has undertaken comprehensive research that indicates that Australia can reduce its emissions by 25% of 2000 levels for as little as the cost of a cup of coffee per household per week. Speakers at the launch included
Executive Director Anna Skarbek and board member Professor John Thwaites, who you may know as former Deputy Premier of Victoria and Victoria's first Minister for Climate Change. Overall it was very inspiring and uplifting and a stark contrast to what you hear from the economic doomsayers whenever action on climate change is mentioned. If you’re interested I highly recommend you read their
Low Carbon Growth Plan for Australia or the shorter
12 page summary.
