Back Creek diversion (QLD)

Intergen, on behalf of Millmerran Power Partners, commissioned Alluvium to undertake a detailed design to divert 6.5 km of Back Creek which at present runs through their mine lease. The Back Creek diversion is to be constructed in a 500m wide corridor as the mine pit is progressively backfilled and rehabilitated over a period of 10 years.

The geometry and plan form of the Back Creek diversion aims to recreate the natural features of the existing creek and includes a low flow channel, floodplain and terrace. A revegetation plan for the diversion was also developed along with a comprehensive monitoring package including baseline monitoring, monitoring for construction, operations and ultimately, licence relinquishment.
