Back Creek diversion

Intergen, on behalf of Millmerran Power Partners, commissioned Alluvium to undertake a detailed design for the diversion of approximately 6.5 km of Back Creek which at present runs through their mine lease. The Back Creek diversion is to be constructed in a 500m wide corridor as the mine pit is progressively backfilled and rehabilitated over a period of approximately 10 years. The geometry and plan form of the Back Creek diversion, attempts to recreate the natural features of the existing Back Creek as best as possible and includes a low flow channel, floodplain and terrace features. A revegetation plan for the Diversion was also developed along with a comprehensive monitoring package which includes baseline monitoring, monitoring for construction, operations and ultimately, licence relinquishment.
